My good friend Toro Del Funk recently had some smashing news re his latest track 'Mancunia Funk'.
Net-label Axis Trax are to release the delicious minimal house track and to arrange a couple of remixes. Congrats TDF, although I'm not quite sure if he was more pleased that he got a congratulatory tweet from Funkagenda! I hope they put it out on vinyl for him, I might have an excuse to go and buy a turntable then.I just finished browsing Samuel Qwok's Soundcloud, there's some lovely music on there, all free too mind, get your Pea all wet and get over there with your Earballs open.
His Longford Squire project reminded me that I did something similar a decade ago, it was the 'original' Tokyo 2005 project, and it was born about 35 seconds after Chris Cheetham introduced me to Stars of the Lid. It's all Glum ambient guitar music, it's hardly going to win any popular music prizes but it's quite nice to fall asleep to and it was nice for me to revisit it if only to see how painfully alternative I thought I was when I was 25. It's up at Soundcloud, you can download the tracks if you'd like to fall asleep to them, it's kind of what they were meant for in the first place.http://soundcloud.com/paulhigham/sets/tokyo-2005-parsed>
Hot off the wires that Canon are to donate a Canon 5D Mk11 camera with the new firmware update at the San Francisco SuperMeet 5th February 2010. That should give you 24p and 25p frame rates.
Godspeed that Firmware update, my entire business plan for 2010 hangs on it.
2009
Under consistent rainfall
There were shadows
Apologising for slayings,Politicians sat forward to cry
As rebellion rumbled
And change took the breeze. We span into numbers
As rumours moonwalked
And money fires burned,A scent of despair in the air,
Drawn on smiles
And populist illusions,We did it and made it,
We were there when it ended,
Then we painted it better.
The last word on the last year of the last decade according to Dunstan.
